Regional Cheeses

Puglia, Sardinia & Beyond

Aged according to generations-old traditions, our regional cheeses are selected for character, provenance, and the stories of the families who make them. From aged Caciocavallo to Sardinian Pecorino — each is inseparable from its place of origin.

Our standard

Aged by hand. Regional DOP varieties. Family producers only.

Italy's regional cheese tradition is among the richest in the world — hundreds of distinct varieties, each inseparable from its territory, its milk source, its aging method, and the hands that made it. Altieri's cheese selection is deliberately regional: we do not offer generic Italian cheese. We offer specific cheeses from specific places, made by specific families, with documented provenance and traditional production methods.

What defines this category

Aged Caciocavallo from Puglia and Basilicata
Pecorino Sardo from Sardinia — aged and fresh varieties
Parmigiano Reggiano from small dairies in the DOP zone
Burrata from Puglia — made fresh to order
All from family producers with direct Altieri relationships

How we select

Our cheese selection changes with the season and with what our producers are offering at their best. We do not maintain a fixed catalogue — we offer what is exceptional at the time of order.

Our producers

Cheese producers in the Altieri collection span Puglia, Sardinia, Emilia-Romagna, and Campania. All are small family operations. None supply industrial distributors.
